FRONT RANGE LEAGUE EXPANDS INTO MORGAN COUNTY, COLORADO
FORT MORGAN, COLORADO – Summer collegiate baseball comes to Morgan County, Colorado in 2026 as the Front Range League announced the formation of the Morgan County Wranglers. The Wranglers will play home games at Eddie Underwood Field in Ft. Morgan beginning in June.
The newest Front Range League team, the Wranglers are finalizing an agreement with the Morgan County School District and the Ft. Morgan Mustangs youth program to work in conjunction to bring summer baseball to Morgan County. The name Wranglers was suggested by Josh Langford, who leads the Mustangs youth program, as a nod to a former minor league team.
“We’ve looked at the Ft. Morgan/Brush area for quite a while now as a great location for a Front Range League team,” FRL President Chuck Heeman said. “We met with the two groups last fall and have been working on an ownership structure to create the team and we’re happy to be able to move forward for the 2026 season. It’s a great opportunity to bring a fun and exciting community asset to the families and baseball fans of Morgan County as well as giving our players, coaches and interns that next step in their careers. We can’t wait to take the field in June.”
The Wranglers will be coached by Thomas (TC) Fairfield, currently serving as Associate Head Coach at Coalinga (CA) College. Fairfield has a wealth of summer collegiate coaching experience, most recently as Head Coach of the Alameda Merchants of the California Collegiate League.
“When I found out about this opportunity and the excitement around creating this new team, I knew this was going to be an awesome place to build something fun,” Fairfield shared, “And I know that with the support of the town and our great partners, the Wranglers will bring an exciting brand of ball to the field that the people can rally behind and be proud of.”
The team is actively seeking host families for players and coaches, and corporate partners for companies who value promoting their message in a fun environment in front of big crowds through the summer. The team is also seeking local sales staff and will hire local workers for in-season duties.
Wranglers players and coaches come to Morgan County from throughout the United States and, in some cases, outside the country. With visits from player families, visiting teams and their fans/families, and college and professional scouts, the Wranglers seek to become an immediate tourism force for Morgan County each summer.
“The Wranglers are more than just a baseball team”, FRL Commissioner Ken Wilson said. “Collegiate wood bat teams all over North America provide inexpensive family entertainment, tourism dollars, and career opportunities for every community in which a team operates. To bring the league to a great area like Ft. Morgan, Brush and Morgan County, is a great thing for the league and a great opportunity for the county.”
